This year, GORP celebrates 30 years of outstanding learning and networking for orthodontic residents. As doctors embark on the University of Michigan, the excitement intensifies, as there are a variety of lectures scheduled, exhibitors to meet, and many extracurricular activities to attend (including a banquet at the Henry Ford Museum).

Reaching for your dreams is a common theme heard across all musical genres. Here are just a few musical examples that quickly come to mind:

However, along the way, everyone needs a little bit of help obtaining his/her dreams or goals. Help in overcoming the roadblocks that might be encountered. Help tackling any setbacks that might happen along the journey. Help maintaining the inspiration to keep one’s goal in sight. Help in overcoming all forms of discouragement. When it comes to obtaining career goals, help comes in a variety of outlets, from one-on-one connections, to educational opportunities, to lifetime mentorship (just to name a few).

Let’s focus on one excellent learning opportunity created solely to help residents focused on their future orthodontist career. For over 28 years, the Graduate Orthodontic Residents Program (GORP) has been an educational outreach designed to arm residents with the tools needed to become a successful orthodontist. The 3-day event offers a variety of educational lectures, access to industry vendors, raffles and exciting extracurricular events.

This year, GORP is being held in Cleveland, Ohio (home of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame – hence the musical inspiration for the blog post), at the Cleveland Marriott Downtown Hotel, August 3-6, 2017!

Time for GORP 2015

The 2015 Graduate Orthodontic Residents Program (GORP) is quickly approaching and we are excited about attending this year’s event (July 30–August 2, 2015).

Plan to stop by our table and enter to win an Apple Watch by participating in Bentson Clark & Copple’s 2015 Annual Resident Survey. A QR code will be displayed at the booth, providing easy online access to the survey. If running short on time at the event, pick up a postcard with the QR code and submit your answers to the survey at your convenience. Please note that the survey must be completed by August 7, 2015 to be eligible to win.

Even though we are only giving away one Apple Watch, everyone is a winner at GORP! As a thank you for participating in the annual survey, each doctor will receive a complimentary electronic subscription to the Bentson Clark reSource newsletter for the remainder of his/her residency.

2014 GORP Contest Winner Announced

2014 GORP Winner Bentson Clark & Copple is pleased to announce that Dr. Tyler Holt from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center is the winner of our on-site Soccer Sunglasses GORP promotional contest.

All GORP attendees were invited to participate in our social media contest for a chance to win a Nike Fitbit and a lifetime subscription to the Bentson Clark reSource quarterly newsletter.

Company-branded, soccer-themed sunglasses were given away at the Bentson Clark & Copple booth during the University of Michigan-hosted event. Residents were asked to snap a photo of themselves wearing our branded sunglasses, then upload the image to Instagram or Twitter with the hashtags #BCCOrtho and #GORP2014.

Reaching Your Goals at GORP 2014

GORP 2014 One of our favorite events each year is the Graduate Orthodontic Residents Program (GORP), which is right around the corner (July 31–August 3). Our bags are packed, our flight has been confirmed and we are ready to exhibit on the campus of the University of Michigan.

2013 GORP Promotion Winner Announced

GORP 2013 Winner Bentson Clark & Copple is pleased to announce that Dr. Doug Shaw of Nova Southeastern University is the winner of our on-site “Who’s the Boss” GORP promotional contest.

All GORP attendees were invited to participate in our Instagram contest for a chance to win a Mystery Prize, valued at over $2,800. The prize included:

A lifetime subscription to the Bentson Clark reSource quarterly newsletter. The Bentson Clark reSource is an all-in-one informational source that provides and analyzes real data from real practices to present the most accurate information available within the orthodontic industry. Each issue of the Bentson Clark reSource includes articles written by the most distinguished consultants, industry insiders and businesses leaders within the world of orthodontics.

A $1,000 worth of consulting from Bentson Clark & Copple. Bentson Clark & Copple can review an existing practice valuation to ensure the value determined is reasonable and appropriately represents the fair market value of a particular practice. Consulting services also include practice transition mediation between Sellers and their advisors and Buyers and their advisors.

A Lunch and Learn webinar for the winner’s orthodontic program. This includes a one-hour webinar and lunch and cupcake delivery for the residents in attendance.

GORP was started in 1989 as a means of bringing the orthodontists of the future together for a summer meeting, creating an environment to foster professional growth and interpersonal relationships among colleagues and representatives of the orthodontic industry. Over the past 24 years, the meeting has grown to an event that involves around 500 orthodontic residents from the United States and Canada.This program/meeting is unique in that it is the first annual conference to bring together residents in a dental or medical specialty program. The meeting is sponsored by donations from orthodontic exhibitors, the American Board of Orthodontics and its constituent associations and American Association of Orthodontists Foundation.
